A Regional Approach to Energy Efficiency
California’s seven Regional Energy Networks—BayREN, SoCalREN, 3C-REN (Tri-County Regional Energy Network), I-REN (Inland Regional Energy Network), San Diego REN, Central California Rural REN, and the Northern Rural Energy Network—serve communities throughout the state. Together, these networks reach approximately 94 percent of California’s population.
Each REN is designed to address the unique needs of its region. Rather than applying a uniform statewide model, RENs develop programs that respond to local priorities, building types, climate conditions, and community needs. Their offerings often include technical assistance, workforce development, incentives, energy assessments, and implementation support for public agencies, educational institutions, businesses, and residents.
